CatalystCon West Fundraisers
CatalystCon creator Dee Dennis has chosen two awesome recipients of fundraisers to be held during the conference weekend at CatalystCon West: The Center for Sex and Culture and the Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education.
Dennis has donated two tickets to a future CatalystCon conference to be raffled off Sunday during the closing remarks but you need not be present to win! Tickets will be on sale all weekend at the CatalystCon Registration table for $5 each (or five for $20). In addition to the main fundraiser, the CatalystCon West sponsors will also be raffling off prizes from their collections. (Participating sponsors include ANEROS, Sportsheets, Tantus, Vibratex, Wet, We-Vibe and more!) Tickets will be on sale at Registration for $2 each; visit their tables in the Exhibitors Hall for more information.
Those who are not attending CatalystCon West can still support both causes by visiting the donation pages on their websites:

About the Center for Sex and Culture: The CSC, founded in 2000 by Drs. Carol Queen and Robert Morgan Lawrence, is an archive, library, gallery and community space aimed at preserving and sharing information and artifacts of sexual identity, sexual products, and sexual ideas. The mission of the Center for Sex and Culture is to provide judgment-free education, cultural events, a library/media archive, and other resources to audiences across the sexual and gender spectrum; and to research and disseminate factual information, framing and informing issues of public policy and public health. The CSC aims to provide a community center for education, advocacy, research, and support to the widest range of people.
“The Center For Sex and Culture collects because every single sex-related item, in a society that is obsessed by and ashamed of sex, is vulnerable to extinction,” said Queen. “There’s less knowledge about sex informing our history than any other significant elements of life in different times and places.” For more information visit: www.sexandculture.org.
About the Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education: Former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, MD, has teamed up with the Program in Human Sexuality at the University of Minnesota Medical School to advance comprehensive science-based sexual health education. Elders and PHS have responded to the current sexual health crisis by creating the Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education. Together they will help to change the direction of sexual health in this country and around the world.By establishing the Elders Chair, PHS will work to create comprehensive life-long sexual education curricula, to increase the number of health care providers trained in sexual health care, and to expand scientific research in sexuality education. Sexual health education is about more than disease and preventing pregnancy, and we will work to promote sexual health throughout every stage of human life, from adolescence through adulthood and beyond.
PHS has proven success in educating medical professionals, sexual behavior research, and advocating for science-based public policy. Through the Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education they will build on their strengths to advance sexual health education.
